I just started playing Splitgate and enjoyed every second of playing the games. Splitgate is a free-to-play, fast-paced multiplayer shooter that features player-controlled portals. This sci-fi shooter takes the FPS genre to a new dimension with its portal mechanics, delivering high-flying, multi-dimensional combat.
Splitgate was created by 1047 Games and was founded by Ian Proulx and Nicholas Bagamian in their dorm rooms at Stanford (the company was named after their dorm address). What started as two computer science majors putting portals into an FPS for a project demo has now turned into a 25-person game development studio.
Splitgate has been growing fast over the last few months, and players are already seeing how their gameplay fits up against other players in splitgate. Splitgate has a casual mode, but players are interested in its ranked mode.
There are seven ranked tiers in Splitgate right now, and you’ll need to play a series of calibration matches before taking your place in a tier.
- Bronze (Zero to 1,499)
- Silver (1,500 to 1,999)
- Gold (2,000 to 2,499)
- Platinum (2,500 to 2,999)
- Diamond (3,000 to 3,499)
- Master (3,500 to 3,999)
- Champion (4,000+)
I found the portals amazing if I remember to use them in the game. Portals can help players get from one side of the map to the other or help you get more kills as players will use your portal to get across, not realizing you will be waiting on the other side. If you manage to remember or want to learn the portal's full power, you will be a step ahead of other players.
The weapons in Splitgate are similar to weapons seen in Halo. Here are some of my favorite weapons you can grab in Splitgate.
I see myself putting in a few hours a week playing Splitgate and see how 1047 Games continues to grow this game and how they plan to keep players interested. If you want to see someone from GosuNow streaming Splitgate please follow us on Twitch.
